Watt an easy way to save!

How would you like to save 10% or more on your electric bill? By following this one simple rule, you could save hundreds of your hard earned dollars over the course of a year.

In the summer time, temperatures are climbing into the 90’s or 100’s. It is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk! Where is the air conditioning?

Instead of turning the air conditioning to 75, turn it to 77 or 78 degrees. You will probably not feel much from a 2 or 3 degree difference in the house, but your pocketbook or wallet will notice.

Assume your average electric bill is $250 per month. Those two degrees could easily lower your bill by $30 or $40!

The same principal applies to the winter months. Instead of setting the heat (electric or gas) on 70, put the temperature on 67 or 68. The easy part about winter is you can always wear more clothes to stay warm or grab a blanket.

When you are not home, try lowering the thermostat a few degrees in the winter time or raising it a few degrees in the summer. This also helps save money. If remembering when to turn the thermostat sounds like too much work, try installing a programmable thermostat. It will do the job for you! There are several out there that are reasonably priced and the temperature will be set automatically.

Lowering your electric bill does not take a lot of work, just some planning on when and how to use your air conditioner or heater. Watt are you waiting for?
